Bridge calendar model

I've been wondering how the calendar models of competition are around the world. Is the USA model , to condense the main federative competitions for a couple of weeks popular? Or disperse all over the year?
How is it in your country?

I think some of the Swedish girls / women's team would make nice calendar models.

I guess the North Americans go for condensing things like they do because of the large distances involved - if you're going to travel you might as well make a week or so of it. Smaller countries probably find they get greater attendance in the long run with mainly weekend events - I guess.

Hi Nick. How is it in England? Here(Portugal) it's spread all over the year, which i find awfull.

That depends upon whom you believe. Arguably there are only 193.

To answer the original poster's question: in England it's a mixture, but three of the four major teams events are distributed over a period rather than concentrated into a week. The most important events are probably:
- Gold Cup - knockout matches played privately, with the last two rounds played over one weekend.
- Premier League - split over three weekends
- Spring Fours - played in five successive days
- Crockfords - knockout matches played privately, with an 8-team final played over one weekend.

The only thing that is structured something like an NABC is the Brighton congress, which lasts for ten days. The main events in that are prestigious, but not as much as the events mentioned above.

And then there are others like Blackpool End of the Year and the various Easter congresses...

Well, in Singapore, which is small small, the events are almost all weekend events, with the main ones during Easter, May, August and December.
