I got from the BBO dealer a poisoned ;-) gift with the following hand today...

AKJ1087632
-
-
AQJ8

Playing with random p I got to the 7s after the auction
p-2c-p-2d-3s-4h-6s-6nt-7s... but it was of course very poor bidding by us, pure luck to have the another black king...

The question is how to get to the grand after good bidding, is this possible to check out about K clubs with the intermediate+ methods?

my p hold:

54
A9543
K10
K954

1) over 3s cue 4c first not 4h
2) after 4h bid 4nt rkc, then QS ask if you wish(if pard has QS he then cues cheapest K), then 5nt specific King ask if you wish.

Hard to make sense of that auction. If it went

2C by the 9-4 hand - 2D
3S - 4H
etc

then I'm already thinking "ugly 4H bid, uses a lot of space". 3NT too weak, so 6NT? :)

If we prefer a more scientific method, why not 4C cue bid since 3S sets trumps as spades. Then 4D from the big hand, which gets a 4H cue. Now 5D from the big hand to show a void (else he would have bid 4NT) and so his hand now looks like

AKQxxxxx
Kx
-
AQJ

or something (perhaps red suits are swapped).

Edit: you can't bid 4NT over 5D... argh. So we've got

2C-2D
3S-4C
4D-4H
5D

at which point it's clear diamonds are fine and in fact blasting 7S at this point isn't too absurd. 6D would normally ask for 3rd round D control, and the big hand might well think partner needs actual diamonds and give up on grand. (Alternatively, 5NT to ask number of big trump cards, to which 7S is the reply to show AK - perfectly justified as he has 9 of them. Or maybe 6H which should be 2nd round control ask in H, and again 7S is the reply).

It is a very commont agreement that 2C-2D-3M shows a solid major suit and demands first/second round cuebids. With that agreement the auction should go
2C 2D
3S 4C
7S P

A jump in the major normally asks for 1st round controls, not 2nd.

However, a new suit by opener generally asks for 2nd round controls.

Thank the opps for not jumping into the auction!

Depends on the meaning of jumping to 3. For me it's just "sets trumps, start cuebidding 1st/2nd round controls" (with frivolous 3NT), but apparently this is not so for everyone. Even if you only ask first round controls, then you can use Blacky followed by specific King ask to discover the K after partner's 4 cue.
