This question comes from another post:
If you play Italian controls (1st and 2nd controls) and you rebid a control is that generally showing?:
- 1st control; or (Ax. or void)
- 1st and 2nd control (A, AK or void)

1st and 2nd seems to be standard.
I never realised this (I should check this with my partner).
...Maybe you don't need 1st only because RKC can cover these. If anyone has seen an explanation for this preference then I would be interested.

Wrong forum.

Actually, it depends...

If the control bid is truly a side control situation (neither a suit you already showed or one that partner already showed), then IMO the only assured thing is first round.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

This is what I found in an old document (1990) of Claudio Petroncini and Giorgio Belladonna:

Quote

Repeating one’s cue-bid that had not specified the type of control or making a cue-bid in a suit skipped by partner confirms 1st-round control in the suit

Quote

Skipping a suit, in which the player has shown a control directly (with a cue-bid) or indirectly (continuing the dialogue despite partner have denied a control in the suit), specifies 2nd-round control only of the suit skipped

Is this old or is it played differently in Italy...?
