what about a table option such that after the bidding if your side is declaring, the player you've nominated automatically moves seats to become declarer [without seeing opp hands obviously]? good for teaching one's clients how to play imo or indeed the wider novice community.

i suspect this would be trivial to implement.

I agree. In fact, when playing with three robots, BBO should give the human the option to be declarer when his robot partner wins the bid. This gives the player more chances to be declarer and practice their play.
