I thought it'd be particularly cool if it was possible to break down the information in more ways rather than simply average IMPs.... It might help people (for example, me) figure out what parts of their game they most need to improve upon. For example... I wrote my own program to do so this morning just for fun, and it slurps up all the data and outputs stuff like this:
Avg IMPs: +0.33 Offense: -0.17 Minor : -1.18 Major : +0.29 NoTrump : -0.22 Part : -0.33 Game : +0.14 Slam : -1.04 MissGame: -0.16 MissSlam: +0.39 Declarer: +0.00 Minor : -1.50 Major : +0.66 NoTrump : +0.12 Part : +0.06 Game : +0.48 Slam : -4.49 MissGame: +0.15 MissSlam: +1.28 Dummy : -0.43 Minor : -0.94 Major : -0.08 NoTrump : -0.71 Part : -0.87 Game : -0.25 Slam : +5.85 MissGame: -0.72 MissSlam: -0.24 Defense: +0.92 Minor : +1.70 Major : +0.68 NoTrump : +0.80 Part : +1.23 Game : +0.47 Slam : +5.48 MissGame: +1.60 MissSlam: +1.86
The fact that IMPs are higher as defense and declarer and lowest as dummy suggests to me that my play of the hands is at least relatively solid. The fact that almost all of the IMP scores for me as dummy are negative suggests perhaps I need to work on my bidding, particularly as a responder, yes? It looks like I miss slam and game when I probably could have bid it.
I don't know -- it just seems like we have the wealth of data available and it should be possible to draw something meaningful from it. Maybe my interpretation is too simplistic though. Am I totally crazy?

On a related note, is there any document detailing how the LIN files work? I mean the actual structure of the file, so I could parse it myself and look a little closer at the games :-)
