Good hand for gazzili or some variation thereof.

Anyway, gwnn is seriously lacking in imagination :) 2NT is ok, but 3♠ should also do the trick. And if you really wanna get immaginative, how about an off-side 2♥? It works wonders in all cases except if pard raises you to 4 lol; check this:

1♠ 1NT
2♥ ..?

now if pard bids

pass: pard will have 24 or 13 majors. Even if pard is very weak, 2♥ should have some play for.
2♠: at least 6-2 fit guaranteed. Raise to 3.
2NT: simple raise to 3.
3m: easy pass.
3♥: now 3♠. Pard might send you back to hearts, but he could also try 4♠ or 3NT.
4♥: this is the bad one, as pard might easily have only 4 card support and 3NT is cold.

I greatly dislike stealing a card, but I managed to convince myself 2♥ isn't a bad bid at all, ahah.

I like raising 3♠ rebids to 4 with a singleton or even a void whenever my hand is not super soft, so I really hate it with ATxxxx.

I don't like 2♥ because I don't have 4 hearts and I don't know what I am gaining? Why is 3m an easy pass for example, why is it not better to tell partner about my values first and let him decide?

2N. Hopefully we play some kind of transfers here. Never thought about it but what if 1♠ - 1N - 2N - 3♥ - 3♠ - 3N showed a doubleton spade and a choice of games?

I don't play transfers, but I play 3♣ asking bid so partner can bid 3♠ with 6 or 3 red with 4. Sadly this treatment was unavaible for the pair that faced this problem.

When I first saw this thread, my immediate reaction was

"Oh coo, they found a new prime"

Immediately followed by

"17,6322" seems awfully small for a new prime

and then

"17,6322" isn't even prime

FWIW, I think that 2N is obvious

My understanding from the years on this forums has been that prime is used to qualify a hand with very good honnors, specially top tricks. I am not sure if you are joking or if I am misusing prime on this context. Please explain.

Your use of the word prime was entirely appropriate.
However, when I read the title, my brain was in math mode so I parsed the phrase very differently...

My posting was intended for amusement value.
It most certainly was not intended as criticism.
