If you register to play in an ACBL sanctioned tourney, then as part of the tournament registration process you will be prompted to enter your ACBL registration number if you have one (you don't need one to play, but if you have one and log it then it gets credited to you). I think that this happens for each tournament in which you register to play. I don't think that there is a way to "tie" your ACBL registration number to your login ID, although it seems a sensible sort of thing to expect as a user, so I may be mistaken.
Welcome, by the way.

Log into BBO from the "play bridge" link on www.bridgebase.com
Once you get logged in, click on "ACBL WORLD" (one of the featured areas)
A list of events show up, but underneath the list of events is a series of buttons. One is update your ACBL number. Click on that and enter you ACBL number. As long as you don't change user name, you will never have to enter your ACBL number again... it will know the association between your user name and your ACBL number.
Good luck, and welcome.
