Anyone playing thrump doubles? I'm starting to wonder if they're such a good idea. I can see avoiding endplaying myself. Like after 1C (3D) dbl and I have Qxxx xxx AJx AKxx I might want to bid 3N instead of 3S. But I don't want to bid 3N with KQxx AJxx Ax xxx and I think thrump doubles call for that.

Although the original definition of 3M here was as a 5 card suit I know that some play it as 4 card suits up the line. I am not saying it is a great idea (no experience of it at all and it sounds funny) but it would solve your problem with this hand. Alternatively you could double 3D; if partner has a diamond stop then 3NT should be fine, and if not you will hear about their 4 card major.
