East dealer, both vulnerable, IMP

Would you bid it differently at matchpoints?

How would you bid if West deals?

I think you missed the "East dealer" bit. BTW, West is a 1 opener in my book.

I believe finding 7 will be the top spot at both MPs and IMPs hopefully.

Relay auction to get there:
1 - 2 [16+ Any/5+; 12+ HCP (7+ AKQ points)]
2 - 2 [Relay/4+]
2 - 3 [Relay/Equal Shortness]
3 - 3 [Relay/Maximum; 2254]
4 - 4 [Asking how Responder likes hand for a slam/Good Hand for slam (or just general max)]
4N - 5 [RKC - /2 KC, Q]
5N - 6 [King Ask/K]
7 - P [Let's play here!/*groans*, fine...]

2/1 auction to get there:
1 - 2
2 - 2N
3 - 3
4 (RKC) - ... Same after this, getting to grand without much trouble.
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

1 - 2....................16+ any; Minors
2 - 3.................Relay; 2=2=5=4
3 - 4.................Control ask; 9 QPs
4 - 4................DCB; 0/2 AKQ cards
4 - 4N.........................0/2 AKQ cards
5 - 5.................0/2 AKQ cards

At this point, opener can picture all of responder's 9 QPs..so 7...

Playing my new basic precision system (natural with kickback turbo for minors):
1 - 2 (16+ any ; GF 5+)
2 - 3 (5+ ; 4+)
3 - 4 (3+ ; SI sets trumps)
4* - 5 (odd nr of keycards with control ; no control but control)
5NT - 6 ( control but denies Q ; asks a 3rd round control )
7 - pass (3rd round control and 4 tricks outside minors ; jay)
(*)4 would show an even number of keycards (kickback turbo), so 4 doesn't deny a control

...1C - 15+nat/bal, or 18+ any
1S = 9+, 0-3 hearts, 0-3 spades, GF
...1N = relay, usually 18+
2C = 5+ diamonds, 0-4 clubs
...2D = relay
2H = 4 clubs
...2S = relay
2N = 5 diamonds
...3C = relay
3H = 2=2=5=4
...3N = offer to play, non-forcing
4S = significant extras, 5 controls
...4N = relay
5H = diamond and club controls, no spade control
...5N = queen ask
6C = no CQ
...6D = what about DQ?
7D = yep, plus the DJ but no side queen

With West as dealer the bidding is similar...

1D = 4+ diamonds, 10-17
...1H = INV+ relay
2C = 14-17, 4+ clubs, GF
...2D = relay
2H = 5+ diamonds, 4 clubs
...2S = relay
2N = 5 diamonds
...3C = relay
3H = 2=2=5=4
...3S = relay
4D = 5 controls
...4H = relay
5C = diamond and club controls, no spade control
...5N = queen ask
6C = no CQ
...6D = what about DQ?
7D = yep, plus the DJ but no side queen

Decision club:

1 - 1NT
2 - 2
2 - 3
3 - 4
5 - 5
7

15+, (9+ akq); GF, clubs or minors (6+ akq)
rel; 5+, 4+
rel; 2254
RKC for ; 2/Q and Q or AK in clubs
Ask in spades; 0 or 3 tops
Seems like 7 will have to do.

I could try to find J instead of K, might be better move actually. I don't think there is enough room to try to find out both.

I hope we'd get to 6 or 6N. :)
Because we'd find some ingenious way to go down in 7 :(
Although it's not bad, with East declarer. :(.
On a very good day, using Tsetse club:

.....1
2 - 2
2 - 2N
3 - 3N
4 - 4
4 - 4N
5N - 6N
End

1 = 16+
2 = 8+ no 4+ major
2 = No 3+ major
3 = 2
4 = 5+
4 = 3 key
5N = Q and K. No major king.

In IMP surely the other table goes slam. What odds for grand? +17 :: -16 IMP.
Are we there? D:5-0 fails, even D:4-1 pesky. H:6-0,5-1 fails, even 4-2 pesky.
Put back in bad break may repurchase SK onside.
What plan do granders propose? Doesn't feel enough.
Two C-ruffs? How back? And back again?
One C-ruff with S-H squeeze? What clues that?
One C-ruff with SQ finesse? What clues that?
Hearts run for 5 tricks? H:3-3 + [H:J. or H:Jx]

I'm prety sure we get there with East as dealer:

.....1 (16+)
2 - 2 (8+, 5+; tell me about your )
2NT - 3 (5 w/ 2 of 3 top H; how about your clubs?)
3NT - 4 (1st round control; and spades?)
5 - 6 (3rd round control; pity)
7 (But I do have an extra you don't know about)

With West opening it's a little different:

1 - 2 (11-15, 2+ ; 18-19 bal, 16+ or 16+ & )
2 - 3 (relay; & )
4 - 4 (cue; cue)
4NT - 5 (1430; 3 KC)
6 - 7 (good; extras)

Not sure if the West opening would actually get there, though. It might just be me knowing where the auction needed to get to.

Ok, since everybody gives their auction, I want to sound cool xD

Starting with East:

----- 1 (---; 15+ any)
1 -- 1 (any GF; relay)
1 -- 1NT (2-suited w/o or 1 minor; relay)
3 -- 3 (5+ 4 equal short; relay)
3 -- 3NT (2254 concentrated 8+ RPs, relay)
4 -- 4 (9 RPs, relay)
4 -- 4NT (0 or 2 top ; relay)
5 -- 7 (0 or top 2; to play)

With West as Dealer:

1 -- 2 (10-14 HCP 4+ unbalanced; relay)
2 -- 2NT (5+ 4; relay)
3 -- 3 (equal short; relay)
3NT -- 4 (2254 extras; RKC )
5 -- 5 (2 w/ Q; spec K ask)
6 -- 7 (K of clubs; OK)

1) 1di (prec) - 1he
2) 2cl 9+ in minors - 2sp 4th suit forcing
3) 3di 5di 4th club no stopper in spades and without support - 4NT obvious diamond RKC otherwise over 2cl 4nt would be inv
4) 5sp - 5NT ,
5) 6cl - king of clubs - 7di lets give it a shot 4he, 6di(club ruff), Asp, A Kclubs

I think 7 is a good result at MP or IMP and the odds or sufficient as 6 is likely to be reached.

First, with East dealer:

With West dealer:

First, with East dealer:

1=17+, artificial.
2=8+, 5+, unbalanced. Denies 4 card major.
2=5+.
3=second suit.
3=agrees .
4=A or K. Should have extras as serious 3NT not available.
4NT=RKCB for ....

With West dealer:

1=11-16, 4+, unbalanced OR strong NT. Denies 4 card major if unbalanced.
1=6+, 4+.
2=5-4 either way in minors.
2=FSF.
3=longer .
4NT=RKCB in ....

Not particularly proud of either auction.

West is declarer in 7. North leads 7. Plan the play.

I could get to 7D with my special treatment for 1H openers and a 2/1 GF Response ( 2D! )...
( Opener will show his 4 5 3 1 hand with "extras" ),
but ONLY if West goes key card and not East... because West is the only one who knows about the trump JACK !!
which would be needed in case of "pesky" a 4-1 trump split. Any 4-1 and any 3-2 split is 28% + 68% = 96% .

It still will be speculative ( "pesky" as Dake might put it ) , because what if West's major holding were:

x x x
x

It will still make if the Hts split 4-3 ( 62% ).
Will only need to ruff one Cl and the remaining 5 losers in the West hand are covered by East's: sA, hAKQ and long Ht.

Holding 7 Hts, any 4-2 split or a 3-3 increase those odds to 84% .
