In the old BB forums there was a space button. Does it still exist?
What I really need: an easy way to enter a table in a post. (like a post with 3 or 4 columns to display a list). Is that possible?

Instead of Arial (the default), you can use a fixed width font like Courier e.g.

Example of Courier New

If you want proper tables, try HTML (under other styles)

<table border="1">
<tr><th>Column 1<th>Column 2<th>Column 3
<tr><th>Row 1<td>Entry<td>Entry
<tr><th>Row 2<td>Entry<td>Entry
<tr><th>Row 3<td>Entry<td>Entry
</tr></table>

Arghhhhh!. It seemed to work to begin with but now it just displays source html :(

Not sure if that html thing works. It doesn't look so.

Courier new test:
test and 1 space : :end test
test and 10 spaces: :end test
=> not possible to format tables by adding spaces

?? your second line is one character longer than the first line (because "space" is shorter than "spaces")
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

the [ code ] tag does spacing right, but does not understand suit symbols :)

of course you can use the default ascii suit symbols:
N E S W
1♠ P 2♠ x
P 3♥ P P
P

♥ ALT 3
♦ ALT 4
♣ ALT 5
♠ ALT 6

10:          :
01: :
N     E    S    W
1    P    P    P

also, ALT+255 on the keypad, combined with times new roman appears to give fixed width spaces and permits suit symbols...

HTML works the same as code, just with different coloring.

But see Nigel's test above (and I had the same with preview). It seems that no html is displayed, but only the code?

Yes, isn't that what I said?

..so you said??: html is not html (html tags are not really translated), but it is code with another color?
...sorry that I didn't understand that :)
