I have been a member for several years but still feel like a beginner/early intermediate. I would like to play practice hands in Stayman, Jacoby Transfers, etc. with robots, but can't seem to see how to do this on the site.

Try playbridge.com click on "4 hands" and "duplicate forms" :D hope you like it.

You can do this fairly easily on BBO using the newer web client. Hopefully these instructions are sufficient, but PM me if they are not!

Login using the web client (http://www.bridgebase.com/)

Select 'Start a table' from the 'Play or Watch Bridge' panel on the left-hand upper section of the screen.
Then select 'Start a Bidding table' and a pop-up screen will appear. Click 'Start Table', checking the invisible box if you prefer to do this quietly :)

You will now be at the bidding table. The plan is now to make North always open 1NT and leave the other hands as random.

Click the 'Deal Source' button in the middle of the screen so that we can control the hands dealt.

On the first tab, General, set the Dealer so that North deals all the time (uncheck the other directions).

We could specify the North hand using the North tab, but I prefer the finer control available using a script. So click on the Advanced tab, check the 'Use this input for the Dealer program:' option and paste the following 2-line script into the box:

onent=shape(north, any 4333 + any 4432 + any 5332 - 5xxx - x5xx) and hcp(north)>14 and hcp(north)<18
onent

Now close the window.

Sit SOUTH and click the 'Click for Robot' button in the NORTH seat. If you want competition, then you can use robots for East and West too. Click Redeal for new hands.

Hopefully the above script is fairly clear - the North hand is set to a balanced hand, without a five-card major, and 15-17 points. Adjust per your requirements.

The South hands will be random. Suppose we wanted to have hands to practise major suit transfers. Then we would amend the script to read:

onent=shape(north, any 4333 + any 4432 + any 5332 - 5xxx - x5xx) and hcp(north)>14 and hcp(north)<18
major=shape(south, 5xxx + x5xx + x6xx + 6xxx)
onent and major

I hope this all makes sense and helps!
The Beer Card

I don't work for BBO and any advice is based on my BBO experience over the decades
