Disconcerting question

There wasn't much that I found amusing about the Mixed Pairs in Philadelphia, but this was quite funny:

Against 3NT played by my screenmate, I had K65 over declarer's AQx. Thinking that I might be in trouble in the ending, I rather unsubtly threw the 6 then the 5, playing upside-down attitude. Now declarer asked me "When you throw the 2 and the 5 of spades, is that encouraging?"

That left me slightly awkwardly placed. I couldn't think of anything better to say than "I'm not going to tell you what I had played, but low-high would be encouraging and high-low would be discouraging."

A trick or two later, my partner threw 2, but unfortunately I was the only one paying attention. In due course declarer played a spade to her ace.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
