Congrats Fred and the Diamond team for a deserved win of the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP! (just in case he hasn't realized yet what he has achieved just now :))

Looking at the KO results, they were convincing all the way:

RO64: Diamond - JapCan: +53
RO32: Diamond - Klinger: +81
RO16: Diamond - Lavazza: +25
QF: Diamond - Vito: +117
SF: Diamond - Zimmermann: +60
F: Diamond - Nickell: +43
Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do!

Congrats Fred and team!!! It's well deserved, as the whole team played great throughout. I remember a couple of years ago a thread where it was suggested that the sponsor pair on this team was not as strong as some others and Fred was quick to disagree. Fred was obviously correct as Diamond/Platnick played some great bridge (IMHO).

Congrats.

How did Brad make 7H on Board 20 ? Someone revoked ?

Standard double squeeze. Opening heart lead picked up the Q, cash 4 hearts, 2 diamonds and ruff one, a spade and 2 clubs leaving:

Now on the 7 a diamond can't be thrown or the 4 is good so a spade is thrown, a diamond is thrown from dummy and RHO is squeezed in the blacks.

I know we're congratulating Fred et al, but I think it's worth noting that this board was played well in both rooms. Zia was in 6 at the other table, and there it seems like the problem is guessing the trump queen. According to one of the commentators in our room, he avoided the guess entirely. He eliminated the side suits, and then threw an opponent in, to make them break trumps.

The massive winning margins, the tough draw of having to knock out Lavazza, Zimmerman and Nickell, the Spingold and now the World Championship - is this the beginning of a new era in bridge? Well done by the very popular Diamond team.

John Diamond and Brian Platnick are doing well in the Final of the World Pairs too.
This is John and Brian's second World Championship - they anchored USA to win the 1991 World Junior Teams Final from Canada's Fred Gitelman and Geoff Hampson.
