DO you play the X to promise 44 majors ; 4+4+MM is very weak ?
I recall Eddie Kantar saying " People on other planets know you have 44 majors "
seeing any cross currents these days ?

Eddie, and many other teachers, target intermediate players.
ppl have to learn disciplined bidding before they can venture into more scientific stuff.
As a lunatic, my negative double promises no shape, but 1.5 plus quick tricks. I alert that because the aliens may think I have 4-4.
Why would this double be called negative if it indeed AFFIRMS 4-4 shape?

1C - ( 1D ) - ??
X = I believe standard is that the Neg-DBL shows 4-4 in the Majors; and
1H/1S = 4+ in either major but not the other.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A non-standard approach is:
X = 4+ Spades or 4-4
1H = 4+ Hts
1S = 5+ Sp or 5-5
The person who taught me this said: "This info ( treatment ) comes in handy if the bidding gets into the stratosphere." ( ie. when the Advancer interferes further with a high level Diam raise over your Neg-DBL or 1H/1S response ).

You asked for the auction 1♣-(1♦)-X:

DO you play the X to promise 44 majors
I answered you can also play transfers. This has nothing to do with what I play without interference because that's a completely different situation. Btw without intervention I don't play transfer responses, with intervention I play lots of transfers... So it fits "more standard methods".
