I find it most irritable when my partner or opponents post their system as private. How can one understand their bid when it is "private". In addition their name and place or origan is "Private" What are they ashamed about? One needs to communicate with one's partner during bidding. How can one do that when it is 'Private". I submit that to play one must, at least, signify the bidding system that one is using.

Some don't know any bidding system. Some play multiple bidding systems with different partners. Even if a player mentions a system on his profile you should not assume that he is playing that. Especially if his partner has a different system on his profile
Just ask opps what system and carding they play.

There is no designated spot for system in a person's profile, is there?

put your arrow on the person's name. His resume, system played, and nartionality should appear. Many have "private" instead.

Private is an option under Skill Level
If you are wondering what a bid means it would be best to query the bidder by clicking on the bid. I play 2/1 and that its what is listed in my profile. However, I play "standard" with some friends so the contents of my user profile may not have any resemblance to the bidding at all.
I think the contents of the user profile are more useful when you are looking for a compatible partner rather than being used in lieu of alerts or queries or in your case, partnership discussions.

If your partner's system is private, why don't you play your system? They obviously can't expect you to play their system if they don't have one.
When you sit down to play with them, say "My profile OK, pd?"
