if you play Gerber, 4 then 5 is asking for kings

Anyway, my point was that if you don't know how to ask for kings, you should bid 7, not 6NT. 7 should be a good contract and it's not hard to see why.

I was worried partner would think I was signing off in 5. If I had bid 5, my partner would have bid 5 (K), I could bid 5 asking for K and he would have responded 7 - yes, but not sure where to play 's, 's or NT
Oh well, next time :D

So that gives partner something like:

x Axx Qxx AJ9xxx

This isn't a max.

One more question, is it possible to stop in 5 after this start?

1:2
3:3
3N:5 I assume would be to play though not a very likely or intelligent auction.

I also bid 7NT. Since partner is max then if he has no kings I think he must have 7 clubs which brings me to 12 top tricks. That increases my chances to spades running + squeeze which are really good. For example if partner has x AJx Qx AJTxxxx (he must have something like that, he showed a max and you are only missing 14 other than kings) then (assuming no spade lead) you make if the spades break or person guarding them has either red king, or on a heart lead. Even if they lead a spade then you have spade break + choice of squeeze or heart finesse.

Obviously if partner hadn't promised a max I would ask for kings.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
