I try to go with the %age action and while our license to steal is fully charged I still tend to resist since I'm holding 3 ♠

Pass is one of these calls that no one can blame you for.
We've all been involved in a recap like this - Board 3:
-1430
+680
Lose 13.
Your teammate apologizes as they couldn't find slam after (2♦) - x (4♦) - 4♥ - AP. He then takes a look at your hand and everyone nods and thinks 2♦ is either crazy or not my 'style'.
Winner - BBO Challenge bracket #6 - February, 2017.

When I first read the question I thought we were supposed to choose between pass and 3♦. I would be tempted, might even do it, although I almost never open a 3 level preempt on a 5 card suit in real life.

But then I am one of those strange folks who doesn't like to see voids or second suits in first-seat weak twos.

Does it qualify as:
1. The weak two in diamonds
or
2. The strong hand with whatever?
I believe that the USA currently hold only the World Championship For People Who Still Bid Like Your Auntie Gladys - dburn
dunno how to play 4 card majors - JLOGIC
True but I know Standard American and what better reason could I have for playing Precision? - Hideous Hog

Do not underestimate the power of the dark side. Or the ninth trumph.
