Where your carefully chosen agreements (whatever they are) just collapse... (again assuming standard).

If I have carefully chosen agreements, surely I would know whether they can handle a 1♦ opening on the hand. If they can't, I shouldn't open 1♦.

Anyway, had I somehow bid 1♦ without previous discussion, I would simply bid 2♠.

If partner really interpret

1♦ - 2♣
2♠ - 4♦
6♣

as a splinter; bad luck.

We should always assume 2/1 unless otherwise stated, because:

- If the original poster didn't bother to state his system, that means that he thinks it's obvious what he's playing. The only people who think this are 2/1 players.
