I wonder if it's a valid excuse that it's a little bit like trigonometric functions?

I'm the first one to vote for polynomial? And it's not even close, what is the world coming to????

Alright, exponential function is right up there in second place, but it was not on the list???

For those voting for linear functions and constants I wonder, do you have no ambition?

For those voting for sine and cosine I wonder, is your life just as boring?

For most people voting for some other special function I would suggest some modesty.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

Clearly the blancmange function

http://en.wikipedia....lancmange_curve

Good for undergraduates too because it's an example of a continuous, nowhere differentiable function.

mmmmmm, blancmange.

why is it better than the weierstrass function?

I'd have to agree with Ant that the Blancmange function is more beautiful, but the historical relevance of the Weierstrass function is greater so if I'd have to pick between these two then I'd also go with Weierstrass.

However, why would you pick one function when you can have a whole class of functions? Besides, I think the variety and complexity arising from seemingly simple functions outshines any pathological function.

Vote Polynomial!

(no puns intended)
and the result can be plotted on a graph.
