Does anyone have any time that they give up the game they love in order to pursue an alternate activity?
One year I actually gave up playing at my home regional in order to go to Scotland. Another year I also gave up ideas to play the NABCs and ABA Nationals in order to go to Italy. What event would cause you to willingly cancel a bridge playdate?

Can we conclude, tbr, that you are not married? For those married to non-bridge-playing spouses, giving up bridge for some other activity seems pretty common...

Nothing.

Indeed. But I might not notice for a few minutes.
