Make it xx Ax AKQxxx KQx and we are talking but probably still 2NT due to lack of something else.
"Standard" is full of holes and this is one of them.

I could bid 2NT.
If I think 2NT is not enough, surely a major rebid was not a surprise. I probably should have opened 2NT instead of 1♦.
2NT just seems right to me. 18 HCP, with a six-card minor. 8 controls (26.67-18=8.67=+2). I would have liked A109xxx in diamonds, but then that's too easy.

That doesn't surprise me. This hand screams for suit play, but since the texture of the diamond suit is so good, it is certainly worth a 2 point upgrade for notrump.

One partial solution is to open or rebid nt when you do not have a stiff or void.....
For me this was an easy solution if not perfect.....but I grant you can redo the hand I will have a problem......

I assume the 'Josh-style rebid' is 2♣. Unfortunately not many problems are solved with that choice.

I don't see how 2/1 has anything to do with the auction 1D-1H-3D, or 1D-1H-2NT.
But maybe it is just that I don't see.

if you dont see it you dont......I say it all
1minor...rebid jump rebid minor....is a mess in 2/1....very tough.......
of course there are partial solutions..but still......it is a mess.....
------------
on this deal...easy 2nt...but you can make it harder......
----------
my comment means....1minor...rebid ....3 minor in 2/1...is too often a mess....

It is for me.....I try alot of rules..to force nt hands..but still......I agree it is tough

You agree with yourself "it is tough in 2/1".
I agree with myself that 2/1 system has nothing to do with the posted problem. It is all clear now

Fair enough
If 2/1 has nothing to do with this issue.
FWIW I thought 2/1 did...but you do not...
