Scoring: IMP

2-P-3-P
3NT all pass

Can anyone else fill in the remaining details or points of interest?
bridge is never always a game of exact, for those times it's all about percentages, partner and the opponents.

What was 3? A semi-positive with long diamonds? A weak hand with long diamonds? Certainly not a positive response with long diamonds.

North showed very good judgment in bidding 3NT. This assumes that the 3 bid showed very limited values.

Hi:

Change the system if that hand bids 3D in your system.

2C-2D waiting-2S-3D*(no second neg., so GF)-3NT

Well they got to a good spot. But it seems that if south held:

xxx Kxx Qxxxxx x

they would've been in the same spot with 6 very good.

This is why it's good to have a slower auction, starting with 2-2 (waiting) - 2. You can still get to 3NT when it's right (3...3NT) but you can also reach a spade contract opposite the hand above (2-3-some cuebids).

To make any sense, I could not see the bid having a control and the particular hand would have been maximum for the bid. Just never come across this previously and was intrigued to what the remainder of the bids were. There are other ways you can get to the contract, so even the surprise of how well it worked soon loses it's appeal.

Might 2 have included a weak option? Like, perhaps strong or weak with ?
