Justice served. Another out of zone goal.

I don't particularly feel like either goal was offside, but I might not have seen very many replays.

The goal by slovakia was clearly offside.
(I don't know whether you can watch it from the US but the replay on
http://www.sportschau.de/sp/layout/jsp/kom...99514#mbContent shows it clearly.)

what's the definition of offsides? I don't remember. I remember someone saying once that a ray of light needs to fit between the defender and the attacker...

aha wikipedia:

wikipedia said:

"nearer to an opponent's goal line" meant that "any part of his head, body or feet is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent typically being the goalkeeper). The arms are not included in this definition."

so it was offside!

I agree though that generally the officiating has been great (I think I didn't like the USA-England referee but don't remember why).

Good news: a Dainsh player scored first
bad news.... wrong direction...

Good news: Australias next games will be easier.
Bad news: They looked horrible yesterday.

Good news: 4-0
Bad news: we need 6 more wins and the opponents may improve...

Netherlands looked quite like traditional Germany and Germany looked quite like traditional Netherlands....

Still, anybody else here root for N Korea? I'll support N Korea, then if it got eliminated, I'll probably try Argentina...

And I was telling my friend before the game last night that I wasn't sure that NZ had a team that could go all the way.

I voted with my head, but Chile.
Still decidedly intermediate - don't take my guesses as authoritative.

lol, was a funny match, reminds me of the match against USA, just that USA is 100 times better than switzerland.

With Luis Aragones this wouldn't had happened, just like he did against Italy, if the opponents are defending well, then we should better defend ourselves, any Italian coach would have got a 0-0 from that match, but the spannish dudes want to smash all opponents O_o.

Come on Gonzalo, this goal was a joke, this could have happened to any team of the world, even to the inventors of the catenaggio.

The Switzerland played well, really good defence to stop your spectaculare offense. And of course they had so much luck. Spain was my favourite before the WC and this game did not change my POV.

To me Argentina, Germany and Spain made the best games in the first round. Despite the fact that Brazil won and Italy, France and England scored a draw. Spain played MUCH better then they did.
Kind Regards

Roland

yeah but we need something extra on offence or all that ball handling will be worth nothing. Of course if we happen to score soon the match is almost over.
