They have brought the same two headlines since 1966. First is about "HOPE", second about SHAME! a week or two later ;)

Sure some of the best games are in the group stages, but there is so little at stake, you can easily qualify after a loss, it's just not as exciting.

and group stage takes up 75% of all games. it's just a little dull now. Maybe part of this is that when I remember previous world cups, I just think of the final, and the semis, maybe the quarter finals (Brazil vs Denmark great game in 98) and then I compare those emotions to these ainec. I don't know..

I just don't think the emotions in the quarter finals would be the same if it wasn't for a slightly more dull group phase before that.

Best post ever. I think the American team did a great job containing the English and creating several opportunities, they played at the same level.

Carragher couldn't keep up with Altidore.

Looks like England are going to have trouble dealing with speedy forwards...

Idealess. Helpless. Their whole system is built on one man>>> Rooney, sorry but it has nothing with modern football to do.

Mmmm - let's not go overboard, aside from a few high crosses the US created one opportunity (by Altidore). Their defense was vulnerable too when it didn't just have to deal with long high balls.

Germany looks like they really enjoy having superior skills and being in better soccer shape. The US team can't match this swagger.
