Is it just me or was it sort of slow? I didn't see the first half but I think they robbed Mexico, was the line guy from Arizona?

I saw all these off-side situations (in 1st half time) x-times in slow motion. There were no bad decisions so far I am able to judge it.

It was 100% offside. wtp? Are you being anti-American again Hanoi5?

Clear offside on the non-goal.

the espn commentators got it wrong too, they were outraged that it was called back. then in the second half they sort of admitted it, very quietly, with something like (after another correct call by the refs): "he got this right, just as the offside decision in the first half."

pffft

read the f#@#@$@#$ laws, guys...

Good refereeing, albeit I would not have complained about a red card on that ugly S African foul about 40m from their goal on the left side some time between minutes 60 and 80

Good refereeing

yes. agree. but also not that much for the refs to do in this game. it was pretty tame (with one or two exceptions).

I thought the South African man at the arch was the line... I guess I gotta go read the laws...At least I was right about the lame game.

Oh! And the South African goal was pretty nice.

pretty bad game between the two but I think it was of a higher technical standard than Mexico vs South Africa.

You need two defenders between you and the goal when the ball is played for you to be onside.

I'm not sure it's always been like this. I remember they were very enjoyable in previous cups. 1990 Argentina Cameroon was a great 1st game. I even thought it was me, losing the taste for watching the game, but then a guy from TV said the next best punishment for kids who don't do as they're told would be to have them watch the Uruguay-France encounter...

Sure some of the best games are in the group stages, but there is so little at stake, you can easily qualify after a loss, it's just not as exciting.

and group stage takes up 75% of all games. it's just a little dull now. Maybe part of this is that when I remember previous world cups, I just think of the final, and the semis, maybe the quarter finals (Brazil vs Denmark great game in 98) and then I compare those emotions to these ainec. I don't know..
