Everything is red in this board!

opps are red
partner is only bidding red
you have green cards but can they withhold the flood?

Scoring: IMP

p-p-1-2N*
p-3**-x-3
p-p-x-p
??

2N=clubs+major
3=p/c

... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

What was the double? I would assume takeout but doubling 3H and then doubling 3S is a little unusual.

I was undecided and generally afraid so I pulled to 4. I got lucky when partner didn't really have a takeout hand

x-3-p-p
x-p-4-4

I would expect pard to have the 18-19 balanced hand with short spades and/or a 1444 with just about the same strength.

I would probably pass here (due to spade wastage). Oh, agree with pard's bidding. I mean... what else can he do?

I take that to mean you don't have a meta-agreement on doubling p/c bids.

He can double 3 as a takeout bid because his hand is so good. But he can do just about anything but double 3!

It is super obvious from our hand that partner has a takeout X of spades and penalty X of hearts so your 4H bid is good. In unfamiliar territory don't just bid what you think the bids should mean, try and figure out what's actually going on.
