A friend is trying to track down online notes on responses to a strong 2♣ opener which have something like:
- 2NT response as a semi-solid 6-card suit e.g. KQJTxx
- 3♣ thru 3♠ as transfers to 6-card suit but not quite as good, say lacking the J or 10
- alternative would be 2N thru 3♥ as transfers but with suit not so well defined...
Obviously this would change other 'normal' responses to 2♣.
Is anyone aware of such a method?
Thanks,
Paul

There are lots of methods like this.
One that I played for a while and liked was:
2♠ = one or both minors (GF); if Opener relays 2NT, similar to 2NT-P-3♠ sequence in that show either one-suiter minor (positive) or the short major from two-suited minors (flexible).
3♣/3♦ = flags for majors, positives
3H/3♥ = majors, long preemptive
2NT = bust long minor (relay to pass-or-correct; 3♦instead forces flag of minor 3♥ for clubs 3♠ for diamonds)

"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

I prefer transfers BY OPENER, e.g.
2♣ 2♥ = double negative, less than a king (other responses to 2♣ are nat, GF)
now:
2♠ = balanced, unlimited. Resp bids as if opener in 23-24 range (2NT = I'd pass a 23-24 NT)
2NT...3♥ = next suit. Resp completes transfer to say "go on at your own risk" or bids something else nat, not totally desperate
3♠ = 5♠ + 4♥, F1
3NT = 5♠ + 5♥, NF

I played:
2 ♣ (only strong opening, semiforcing or more)
2♦ GF+ not fitting a higher bid
2♥ to play opposite a semiforcing 2 ♥
2♠ forcing in hearts, to play opposite spades SF
2NT till 3♥ transfers min. 2 of 3 tops, min 6 cards. GF
partner breaks just with onesuiters.
We gave up on the transfers. The frequency was low and sometimes you even mess up your easy auctions if both partners have onesuiters- and you do not even win if opener has a NT hand. So you win if partner has a 5431 and you hold his 3 card suit. This is a little oversimplified, but we stopped to play it. No net gains.
