I thought it was normal to bid 3♠ to make it more difficult for opps to find their fit. If not, please let me know.
The explanation GIB expects for my bid is 5+♠, 17 points. Not 16, not 18. Maybe experts have bids that show an exact point count, but most of the rest of us aren't that sophisticated.
The explanation of 2♠ is 3+♠, 7-10 total points.
If 3♠ is invitational, shouldn't North decline with a minimum?

I wonder if the speed settings of GIB are set to very fast play (less time to think) in your computer.

I didn't know that was possible; I'll investigate. If it matters, these hands were from a Free Robot Race game.

I think for free robot races, the speed setting is set by BBO, and you can't change it.
