So, in some frustration last night, I tossed out a somewhat aggressive intervention into the opponents' sequence.

2NT opening (20-21), I overcalled 3 with xxx-Jxx-109xxx-xx. (We play natural overcalls here, in case you were wondering.)

Of course, the opponents had no way to find the double. Responder's next call, however, was 6, which made seven when an Ace was not cashed on opening lead (logically). The field result was either 6 or 6NT, making seven for the same reason.

The discussion afterwards, however, was somewhat interesting. Have you discussed what calls mean here?
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

My regular partner and I play natural overcalls of 2NT openings, but I have seen a number of good partnerships that play methods over 2NT openings similar to the types of methods that exist over 1NT openings.

I treat it the same as 1NT (3m) .. so transfers at the 3-level.

As long as you play penalty doubles in balancing seat, especially against jlall.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

3x must be natural, you consume their space so much by doing so. Letting them have a cheap general strenght double is very wrong.

I have no particular agreements about what to bid after the interferation. Obviously 3 would be forcing and double take out, but no more agreements.

lol.

With partners I have discussed it with we play the same thing we do over 1N 3D which is:

X=takeout (like stayman)
3H=spades
3S=hearts
4C=nat
4D=5-5 majors
4H/4S=nat

Over 2N-3C it's just transfers, with 3S=diamonds, 4C=5-5 majors, 4D/4H=texas.
