Hi

3 splinter should help partner to evaluate his hand and find the right game and level.

Problem seems xxxx as he probably wont expect such holding, but IMO it is a minor issue.

5, I am probably going to bid that anyway. If they bid 5M I will pass in direct seat but double in pass-out seat.

I like the 3H splinter if available.
If I have a invitational+ raise, I would choose that as 2nd, unless I would bypass 3NT with it.
If I don't have the above, I'll blast to 5.

I am not afraid that we could miss a slam. I am more afraid that both sides can play at the 4th level, so I preempt early with 5.

Clearly it is a miner issue you just need to dig deeper

No, the suit is clubs. That makes it a "minor" issue.

you'll have to card them to prove that and before you let them in the game.

3 splinter. Second choice 2NT limit+, 3rd choice 5. Unlike some others, I'm worried we could be missing slam with a 5 bid.

I play 3H as preemptive, not sure what is normal.

2N seems fine. I dislike 5D not so much because I am worried about missing slam, but because I have 2 aces and partner opened so I don't see the urgency to preempt, and I am willing to stop below 5D in a constructive auction.
