(I am sorry if this subject line upsets you - and please don't start any religious discussion in the bridge area - thanks)
Still I want to clear my conscience and confess my sins to the community.
Playing against a guy with no name and a lost viking, my partner agreed stone-age Precision with me and opens 1NT (12 to 15). I find myself with the following collection:
Uncertain how to deal with the situation, I commit the 8th sin that was even too horrible to be ever written down and apply the convention of G. This of course moved all spectators into shock. Partner bid 4♠ and I concluded with 6♣, figuring I would have 10 top tricks from the 8 known HCP and perhaps 2 more of the 5 unknown. Partner delivers a good hand:
Only one little problem: The lead is ♠K... After some deliberations I see no other plan than to duck the first trick. Our lost viking now thinks I am rectifying the count for a squeeze and breaks my communication with... a ♦. And so it happened! The abominable convention of G chalks up 12 IMPs.
Surely a bridge-loving deity would have punished me? Still, I need more proof. Next time, I will push my luck with the forbidden coup of F!
