Say you hold:

98xxx
QJTxx
Qx
A

Your RHO opens 1m (where 'm' represents a minor).

What would you overcall? Let's say you don't like your Qx so change it to AQ and the worthless singleton, what would you overcall? Your Michael's is strong, by the way.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

1S. How else are you going to have a chance to get both Majors into play?

2 is out because I'm too weak.
1 is out because I need two of the top three honours to overcall on the 1 level.
1 is out because I hope to get both suits in.
x is out because it's extremely weird.
pass is out because I don't live in the middle ages.

so, 1, wtp? :)
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

1S, and then discuss Michaels after the hand.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

Hi,

I would make the Michaels Cue, .... well since you have agreed
to play the Cue as strong, this option is out.

In this case I would make a 1H overcall.

With kind regards

Whats the scoring? If its MPs I'm definitely bidding 1 - I don't want partner to lead a spade from Kx for example...
At IMPs its closer. The problem with bidding spades is that it may bury a heart fit.
I'm guess I'm bidding 1- the hand looks more 4-5 to me really.

Gwnn cracks me up lately. There is also a strong correlation between how funny his joke is and how right he is.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

2

Mainly because my agreement is: 5-5 in the majors, too weak for two initiatives.

If this isn't available, it's 1. Same reasons as above.
