Scoring: IMP

P-P-1-1
X-P-3-P
P-3-?

First time playing with partner, but he is very good. Opps are also very good and RHO is sneaky (to put it gently) and is more than capable of passing with a good hand for spades. Would it make a difference if you knew both opps were solid and relatively non-sneaky?

Also, agree with 3 or no?
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

Agree 3. Having already done so, now pass.

would you bid 3 if the auction had been
P (P) 1 (P);
1 (P) ?

I thought not, so 4

Too bad that you didn't having a meaning for 4 after (1)-X in this auction. IMO, it makes sense to play it as a FSJ -- showing concentration of values, support for partner's implied suit and more importantly, inviting partner to bid on with the right hand should they compete with 4...

I bid 4 now to make up for the fact I would have bid it (well 3) a round earlier.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I'd have bid 4 on the previous round.

4, what I should have bid on the previous round.

Good point. Fixed the auction to what I should have had it as, though I suspect the answer is the same.

I might bid 2 rather than 4, but 3 is an underbid IMO.
