About what percentage of the time, while playing in an IMP Pairs tourney, that they difference between: Making game and going down one in game, will cause you to drop at least one place if you lose such a swing.
I think the swing is usually 10 IMPs NV and 12 IMPS Vul., and I seemingly almost always lose to the next place by less than swing that amount when I do such a thing.
It seems like it's AT LEAST 90%. I play well when overtricks and extra undertricks are at stake, but I SUCK when the trick that makes or breaks a game contract are at stake. I just want to know that, on average, how often blowing a game swing (difference between making game or going down one in game, or the opponents making or being one down in game), will cause a drop in at least one place slot in an IMP Pairs tourney.
A: Less than 50%.
B: 50-60%
C: 60-70%
D: 70-80%
E: 80-90%
F: 90-95%
G: 95-99%
H: 99-100%
Also, if you do usually drop because of such a swing, about how many places do you expect to drop?
Also, is such a swing easy or difficult to make up for later on?

game swings matter a lot especially in short tourneys with lot of attendance.
I checked a few acbl 12 board imp pairs, usually the imp difference from first to last is about 90 imps.. so if there are 90 pairs, 10 imp difference roughly changes your position by about 10 places on average...
you may still get into top 10 if your first two board are awful .. just collect the gifts in the next boards.
