I wonder what kind of "logic" is behind these strange US measures like the gallon =
231 cubic inches,=0.133680555 cubic feet =3.785411784 litres :)

To be fair, they were created at a time when people could actually multiply and divide, so it wasn't as problematic as one might think.

Thus the gallon, the basic English unit of volume, was originally the volume of eight pounds of wheat.

wet wheat or dry wheat? :P

1 feet = 12 inches. Like one day = 24 hours. These units come from a time when we used base 12 rather than base 10.

But also it's an incoherent mismatch of conventions with different sources. Sometimes American use metric units: Volts and millimeters. And a calorie is the energy it takes to heat a kilogram of water by one degree Celsius. Pretty useless if you use neither kilograms not degrees Celsius otherwise.

The USA-England World Cup match ended in a 1-1 tie. Some here in the U.S. actually knew a game was being played sometime this year. The rest of us only found out because ESPN told us between NFL reruns and NBA playoff games.

It's not that we find soccer boring, but....

Soccer would be a great game to play on ice with skates and sticks and a puck instead of a ball, and with a Zamboni between periods.

Hell, soccer on ice with drunk Canadiens and brooms would be better....
