Suppose p opens a strong 1NT (IMPs, if that matters) and RHO overcalls 2♣ (Landy). What meaning do you assign to double, 2♥ and 2♠ (and to other calls)?

In general, what I play after a 2♣ overcall of 1NT is "stolen bid" where dbl of 2♣ is stayman and all other bids is as if they hadn't overcalled. With 2♣-X being staymen, doubles of their run out to a major are penalty orieinted. This is how I play it.

However, when 2♣ is specifically for the majors, using dbl as stayman might not be the best approach. So you may well not want to follow my philosophy. I am certain most people play DBL to show clubs, and 2♦ as competitive to play. The meaning of 2♥ and 2♠ are probably variable. Easy way is to show the bid suit, more complicate but effecti is use these as invisible cue-bids (or unusual vesrsus unusual) showing good hand with clubs and diamonds respectively. In this latter case, a direct bid of 3♣ and 3♦ bid should be to play (if you are using the majors for the good hand plus) trying to shut out their majors. And an immediate 2NT might best be used as showing both minors, with the added beneifit that it makes it hard for overcaller's partner to announce his best major at a saffe level.

You always have pass as an option, and then bidding again later.

I haven't run into many pairs playing Landy and never devised an "optimal" defense.

2NT asks for preference
2H = Offensive 2 suiter (Clubs/Hearts or Diamonds/Spades)
2D = Offensive 2 suiter (Diamonds and Hearts or Clubs and Spades)
X = Willing to penalty double at least one major
Pass followed by X = Weak takeout
Pass followed by bid = Weak single suited
Pass followed by 2NT = Minors/Intermediate

2♣ in Landy is Majors If I remember correctly, since it's the same as in Woolsey (mind the spelling) I have a prepared defense with my pd:

Dbl: Competitive in clubs, if they bid to 2M opener can compete to 3♣ with a suitable hand.
Pass: Can have a penalty double of one or both majors.
2♦: Natural and non-forcing (compete in diamonds if they bid 2M)
2♥: Forcing hand with clubs
2♠: Forcing hand with diamonds
2NT: Invitational with something in the majors typically 8-9 HCP with balanced or semibalanced shape and one or two honors in the majors. (opener's 3h/3s now show a weak doubleton)
3♣: Preemptive
3♦: Preemptive
3♥: 3-1-5-4 or 3-1-4-5 GF
3♠: 1-3-5-4 or 1-3-4-5 GF
3NT: To play

2♣ being majors, X is ♣, 2♦ = ♦ NF, 2 of a Major is showing stopper with GF values.

I play similar as Luis, but:

Dbl = penalty Dbl in at least one of their suits
Pass = forcing if responder surprize passes

Other are similar...
