2 or pass. I would probably pick 2 as a least of evils.

2. I don't promise more than three.

It seems like a pass, but I would not quibble with 2.

2D because my 1D show at least 4.

After the 2S (X) my 2Nt is scrambling so that what I bid.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

wish I were not scrambling with a zero to 9 range after passing. 1NT first time might have created a different action by partner after the spade raise, but I would be more comfortable with 3D if he doubled because my point range is known. 2NT by partner would suggest a club contract or a minimum with long diamonds, etc.

I bid 2NT scrambling now, and of course I'm just postponing the problem.

2NT, then 3 to show a strong raise of whichever minor he bids. I'm close to insisting on game, but I'll let him stop in four of a minor.

I will insist on game if partner bids clubs but not if he bids diamonds.
