Why should you suppose that? When I post a problem it's usually because I think it interesting, or because somebody did something that I found surprising.

When this occurred in the England Premier League, at least two players out of eight did something other than pass followed by pass.

Partner had x Q8x AK8xxx AQ8, and defending 4x gets you 500. The full hand is here:

Fewer than half of the pairs who held these hands managed a plus score (though I expect that in some cases partner overcalled 5 rather than doubling 4).
