I am playing with an 'advanced' german player today, and he doesn't know what gerber is, saying he plays 'Forum D'.

What's this system look like?

In practice you can get away with agreeing to "forum D" "sayc" "sa" "sef" for less than 50 boards with a partner if you know 10% of either system.

Trust me, I've tried :)
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

YOu can be advanced without knowing Gerber.

Maybe it is hard to become a Forum Expert without Gerber and Flannery, but surely possible.

I'll be on holiday for a month from Monday. All 281 vugraph commentators on my contact list were notified earlier today. This is what I got back from one of them:

"Have a wonderful, well-deserved holiday, Roland. We’ll record all Flannery bids for you!"

I would appreciate if someone will be good enough not to do the same with G. Hope it won't put too much pressure on you :)

Ron,

my teacher promised me to teach me Gerber and Flannery in the "expert course".
I will give you a summary as soon as I learned it. But don't use this weapon on your poor Thai hosts, their smile will disapear.

In the moment we ty to understand some systems like Fantunes, Nightmare and TOSR, but right after we fully understand these systems, we will start the advanced stuff.

A funny story perhaps. 3 days before the German national indi championship, a Finnish player living in Munich wrote to a newsgroup that he would like to know all about this "Forum D" stuff since he was going to play in this tourney and some people were going to play this system with him.

After some fuzzy responses, none of which probably helped him much, he got 3rd place in the indi :)
