bonus q: would you do otherwise if RHO had opened 1♠ or 1♦?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Overcall, but without "!", I think it is close, and I would prefer
a 3C overcall, given the vulnerability and my semibal. shape
this is out, so I would go with the single overcall.
Be sure that your partner knowes, that you like to enter the
auction.
With kind regards

I would overcall over 1♦ or 1♠, but not when they've opened my Qx.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Pass. However had they opened 1D......

Pass. I'd overcall 1♦ as I don't have a vulnerable holding in what is probably thier suit and it takes away 3 of their normal responses.

When I saw the title, and knowing my style, I was pretty sure I was going to say not. Sure enough, seeing the hand did not change my guess.

would overcall over 1♦, pass otherwise. I don't object strongly to bidding over 1♠, but it isn't my style... I think only a lunatic would overcall after 1♥

We agree.
As becomes obvious....we all know that overcalls can mess with the opp bidding and even when PD is aware that we can have this junk and invites his good hands rather than burying us in hopeless doubled game, we may find him with the wrong hand.
Weak opps will save us..time and time again on BBO or at the club.
Good (OK typical Exp+ in BBO's MBC) will realize that 2Cx making isn't game, but that they may rack up 500 on a part score hand when they find a way to pass it out doubled.
I have to pass here on this given auction. ... neilkaz ..
