Your methods are:

Leads 3rd/5th so the 8 is consistent with 8x or J98(x)

High Encourage

Suit preference in trumps (if not a potentially obvious desire to ruff when an echo would show that)

What signal do you want to send to partner here?

How would you do it?

Do you have any special meaning for say high in trumps showing hearts followed by a subsequent low heart discard - discouraging?

Would a Smith Echo be better?
