In 3rd seat you open 1, P, 2(Drury), 3 on your right. Now what?
Scoring: MP
. What form should my action take from here? P = Crap?, DBL = Good Hand, 3, = a game try?,
3 = Lets play here? etc! etc!. Would be interested to here some thoughts on this :(

I'd say:

X = Pure Penalty
P = Full Opening, mild game interest, invites partner to X for penalty, partner is expected to take a bid
3Something Else = Your normal game try
3M = Subminimum hand

Double = penalty-oriented
Pass = bad hand, not forcing
3M = competitive, not really a game try
3/3 = game (or slam) try

Hi,

Pass - (Pass) - 1S - (Pass)
2C (*) - (3C)

(*) Drury, showing fit

Pass - Min.

X - Maximal Double, i.e. add. value, since you have 3D, 3H
as game tries av., the double also suggests going for
penalty, should there show a certain amount of def. in form
of trump tricks

3D - Game try with values

3H - Game try with values

3M - Competitive, but no interest in game

.............................................................................................

Basically this is the same structure as if the bidding would have gone

1S - (Pass) - 2S - (3C)
???

Dont see a big difference, espesially if you happen to play constr. raises.

With kind regards
Marlowe

Ditto, and I would assume this without discussion.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.

Re-ditto. Creating a force to the three level opposite a lot of my 3rd seat openers is unthinkable.

I like the following, and it jives with my favorite agreements in same type of other situations:

Dbl = penalty
Pass = full opener but nothing to add, leave decisions to partner
3S = bad hand, probable subminimum, signoff
3D or 3H = good hand, nature of good hand subject to agreement [HSGT, natural, etc), gf established, slam try.
4C = splinter
