Ignore Poster

I have seen a forum (using vBulletin instead of Invision) where there is an 'Ignore Poster' option. If you select this option for a poster, you no longer see any posts by them. :P

Is it possible to have such an option for these forums? I feel it would be useful ... the Water Cooler denizens who sometimes wander into the bridge threads, the trolls who constantly repeat themselves in the 'Why I should be able to play any system I like' threads...
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

I have thought about the same but people here quote each other all the time so it might not work so well. I am all for giving it a try, though.

Almost all major forums have an ignore or block feature fwiw.

Great Idea, 655321. fwiw, I'm not sure how well this would work, becuase often there are quoted posters or other people post relating to an ignored post... I love the idea though.
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

I'm somewhat confused as to how that works well. I mean, if a conversation lacks one of the speakers, it sometimes makes little sense.

It is possible to misunderstand the conversation with part of this missing.

On Hattrick forums where I take part a blocked poster's posts still show up like "Blocked poster's reply. Show Unblock" or something.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Lol, nice post Ken. And I agree that it can mess up the meaning of conversations to have one user's posts invisible. When you come across a post from someone you want to ignore... why don't you just... not read it?

I admit that I've only regularly participated in about a half dozen or so web-based forums, but I've never noticed an Ignore Poster button in any of them.

When I read Usenet newsgroups I can create filters for posters, and I've used it a few times. But it does sometimes cause these weird, one-sided conversations.
