I'd like to take part in semi-regular team games, something like most Monday nights (east coast US). Are there any clubs that facilitate this? If not, suggestions for how to go about making this a reality? It could be a league, a club, a group of forum regulars, etc. I don't really care, just so long as players were willing to commit to regular play and staying until the end of scheduled play each week. I'd just like a regular alternative to ACBL speedballs and ever changing random opponents in the main bridge club. Although I'd be happy to handle some of the organizational duties, I don't won't to have to send out e-mails/PMs to a bunch of individuals every week.

If you have other ideas about what sort of semi-regular play you'd like to participate in, how this might work, why this won't work, etc. Please chime in.

Team game organization is pretty informal from what I've seen. While this is cool for those involved, it'd be nice to be able to get something regular going for those of us who aren't active enough on BBO to know lots of people.

#1 the organisers dont really know one

The IAC club welcomes new teams. Fresh blood is wonderful!The schedule is set up so that hopefully all time zones can manage one or the other of the time slots. We don't set up the teams, but there is a partnership desk and a pair desk on the website for people who are interested either to register on or to look for other team members. It's likely better to be proactive and form a team.

We set a series of games, for which teams are expected to play. After a series is over, teams can continue as is for the next series, regroup, drop out for a time, change or whatever. Each series was running for a month but this series we are experimenting with cycling all the teams so it is lasting about 7 weeks. What we do in future will depend on feedback from the teams. Also, after this series we are having a one shot interclub team match IAC vs Acol club.

Players on the teams vary from intermediate to starred (we are privileged to have Rich Reisig as a regular player on Saturday nights). Most teams have a mix. The focus is trying to provide a fun but competitive bridge environment, so it tends to be a bit more relaxed than, say the ACBL, but we believe not unreasonably so. (There will sometimes be some chat for example, but obviously never discussion about an ongoing hand).

Anyone who thinks this sounds appealing is more than welcome to join us. The present series will be over the middle of March, the following weekend is the interclub game, so the next series will be starting the end of March. To join us, you need to join IAC (link in previous post), put together a team and sign it up on the website there. At the moment we have 16 teams, (8 teams playing each session). We would be delighted to have some new teams for the next series.

I did look over the site and even looked up the IAC tournament times.

The team game series is on the weekends, which I understand makes it easier to schedule for teams from multiple time zones, but really isn't convenient for me. I'd like to be able to play weekday evenings (east coast US). I do not mean this as a complaint, just an explanation of why it didn't fit my needs.

I may join and try to make one of the Monday 01:20 GMT games (though they are listed as 01:00 in one place and 01:20 elsewhere). The website is not clear on how long these tourneys are, how many rounds, how many boards, and under what format and time constraints.

I've added you to the membership Tim. The tourney times in the diary are correct; the Tuesday night game is at 7:30 EST and the Sunday night game is at 8:00 EST. Both are 12 boards and both are pairs; sometimes they're matchpoints and sometimes IMPs. The Thursday night game is an Indy also 12 boards and at 7:30 EST.
