You hold a nice hand
Scoring: IMP

What would you rebid?
1) Opps're silent
1 - pass - 1 - pass
?
2) Opps decided to help(?) :)
1 - pass - 1 - 1NT (4+, 5+)
?

Maybe I should have opened 2. I think I'd rebid 3 or 4 in both cases (though I could pass 1NT...)

To be fair, the BWDH is usually 3-6 in partner's suit and your suit, or sometimes 3-7. 2-8 is a new one for me.

Still another case for the forcing jump rebid of a minor suit.

You guys make heavy weather of a simple hand. Just rebid 5 and concentrate on the play ^^

Uh, yes, you will find many a great hands to recommend strange methods on a forum of bidding problems!

The play will be easy, partner has the king of spades and ace of hearts. It's the post mortem I'm going to have to focus on since partner will think I'm an idiot.

To this day I bid 3, and to this day I've never ended in clubs after doing that. Well ok, I don't really bid 3 since like most of us I have a special method to handle it.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Someone may as well provide the "normal" answer of 2

What is normal about rebidding a three-card suit and not rebidding your eight bagger?

Outside HCP list :
KJ
AQJ
Q
AKQJ
Total 23 HCP
Dealer has AQ-KXX-AKJT eight times and void 17 HCP

1 >1 I would try to judge so :
Visualisation may not easy by both sides, so better to make best guess. Partner's holding is immaterial, the real matter is to find 2 entries and cover cards there.

Say p has Kxxx and Qxx. Is this his best minimum? Well I do not think so.

In a good day for 5 :

Kxxx- QJx x I do not think even A helpful.
At best may concede 2 reds. (A and offside Q at least 3 times.)

So I rebid 3. Maybe this conservative approach keeps options open. I respect post, anyway I wld open 2 .

Thanks all for the answers.
Funny to realize now that we have forcing rebid for s in our system, but no such bid for s :)

Another couple of questions
- if opps bid 1NT showing 2-suiter(what actually happened at the table) what would your 2 bid mean?
- And if after bidding 2 you rebid diamonds?

P.S. 7 was cold, but both tables played 6+1 :)
