Was surprised to learn that BBO replace sub automatic with dc player ( in free tourney) if dc player return, is it no longer up to TD?
If so how long does system allow dc player to have seat back.
Have mixed feeling about this, some players may not be willing to sub ,and believe maybe TD should have been advised.

Is this now standard across all tournaments? If so, why werent the TD's told.
And what is the benefit of the change? If a player is disconnected they have time until a sub is put in to sign back on and be reseated automatically now. If they are disconnected longer and a sub put in they can always contact the TD and often be reseated anyway.
Take this common scenario; A player has a bad board mid way through a tournament, abuses their partner and clicks off BBO so that they can escape the rest of the game. Now when they sign back onto BBO they will be reseated and the sub booted?

If you don't want the original player to be reseated, just replace the sub with himself. This now moves ownership of the seat to the sub who will be treated by the software as if he is now the original player.

This means a lot of additional work for the TD, in an open indy for example you can have many players who desert during the tournament.
Does this change only effect already disconnected players or will a player who is subbed and subsequently reconnects also be reseated?

Replacing the sub with the sub does not work when you are both the TD and also playing - can you help out here please?

I would love to know th3 reason for this change, and feel it unreasonable that Tds were not informed. There are certain expectations of the players regarding subs and I feel this takes away their freedom of selection together with the Td's concerns regarding his own subbing where he/she might be trying to provide a sub of a 'supposed' similar standard and/or country.

AFAIK - only ACBL Ts behave in this fashion. With the next upgrade, BBO Turkiye will behave this way as well.
Normal tourneys don't auto-return players to their seats. if you think it is happening to your tourney, let me know
