Despite being in the right quadrant of Gustav, if the storm doesn't get worse than category 3 then they will only have another Katrina....phew!
Right now it is bearing down on the mouth of the Mississippi, ... and Hanna is taking almost the same path that Katrina took in 2005. Remains to be seen if it will cross Florida or rise up the East coast.
Any bets?

So youre the federal government and just wrote a large check to help clean up Nawlins (total $80 BB - but this includes insurance proceeds too and non-government sources) in the aftermath of Katrina.
This time around, what do you do? Do you rebuild a City a second time in three years that has flooding problems that are nearly impossible to mitigate?

A site where you can get good info from all kinds of sources, including their live storm-cams and meteorological installations. A nice vid of the first rainband arriving.
Small towns have been moved, lock, stock and barrel when dams were built. Would be a heck of a project to move the whole city...
