If I'm you, I pass and hope I don't get doubled!!
On a more serious note, whether or not I bid 4 depends greatly on my table presence. If this at a tuppence ha'penny club game with LOLs on both sides etc, I will bid 4 every single time. If I'm playing against FG in the (instert high level pairs competition here) I would pass this immediately.
I guess my methods might come into play here as well. If I usually open light (and partner is aware of this) then 3H should be full strength, and vice versa. If partner has an ability to make a mixed raise (e.g. Bergen) then this may influence matters as well. Whether or not I'm playing weak/strong NT also affects things.

I would do it the other way around.
Against LOL's, I want to go with the field and pass. I will get a top if I get a trick more than anyone else, whether that is for 170 vs 140 for the rest or for 140 vs -50 for the rest. I will definitely not bid 4♥ and risking an average for -50 in 4♥ when the field is -50 in 3♥.
Againt FG, I 'know' that I will have a bad board anyway. If I follow the field, I am sure to get a trick less than the rest and I will have a bottom. I might bid 4♥, I am likely going to get a bottom too, but there is a chance that I can take 10 tricks (when there are 11 available) and my 420 will beat all the 200's.
Other than that, I agree with Justin that this is a clear pass and not even close.

Q: What's the difference between MPs and IMPs?
A: Sometimes 170 is good at MPs.

Ok, cool. I have a habit of persuading myself I've done the wrong thing/had a close decision after whatever I've done hasn't worked out.
Pard's hand is AK Jxxx xxx Kxxx (fairly pipless), is missing a decent game here just one-of-those-things?

Yes. Every HCP in your hands is working, and partner had 4 clubs.

Playing IMPs I would pass as well, but I think
I would not be very happy with my decision.
With kind regards

Yes.
AK oppossite Qxx is just one example why the hand
fits very well, Kxxx oppossite Qx another.

It's 7.5 losers - not close to accepting.

Pass probably is percentage on the auction given. It helps if Responder can show a limit raise at a lower level, giving Opener room to make a game try.
For the record, 116 pairs bid game, 88 stopped in part score.

This hand is not a limit raise, imo.
So many experts, not enough X cards.

Sounds like Brighton. I think the answer to the question depends on too many things we don't know, like our opening style and our invite style.
