That partner might think your double is take-out.

Of course, if you make a "CRACKITY CRACK CRACK"-double, that wont be a problem.

You're probably missing that it isn't a penalty X and partner might bid 5H?!

Actually you're probably not because you know partner bidding 5H is unlikely and if he does bid it we will probably make, and if he pulls he will often bid 4N/5C/5D and he will also pass fairly often!

Still there is some concern of partner bidding 5H and us going down but this is not the hand to pass and take your plus. This is a much better problem if the HK becomes the H2 imo (then I pass).

I think I would dbl in practice because it would take me too long to think about it for a pass in tempo.

I am not happy about this, if we can trust opps p has a stiff spades and will usually pull.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Well I passed without thinking too much about it. It seems wrong at these colors, favorable I think it is right to pass and hope that partner reopens with a double. I think it is quite likely that partner will pull a double.

Not all was lost because partner bid 5C. Your call?

Agree that partner will bid fairly often, but if he pulls to 5C or 4N then we very likely can make a game anyways. If he bids 5H we may be able to make it on a good day. There are so many positive scenarios for doubling, it's not like partner pulling means Xing was bad.

BTW if I passed and partner reopened with 5C I would of course drive to 6, and try for 7 along the way with 5D.

Yes I meant if partner passes it's good, if he pulls it's probably good. So I still wonder, what am I missing!

You have like 19 points or something. Double shows values and at least an inclination to defend. I can't imagine not doubling at any colors.

Giving pard a choice between defending 4 Spades undoubled (we all know he ain't doubling since he rates to be void) or playing 6 Clubs isn't bridge, is it?

X WTP. If you are happy with +100 on this deal than my feeling is that you are getting robbed way too often or that you are expecting partner to reopen with all kinds of crap.

If partner pull to 5H we are going to make it.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
