That partner might think your double is take-out.
Of course, if you make a "CRACKITY CRACK CRACK"-double, that wont be a problem.
Do not underestimate the power of the dark side. Or the ninth trumph.

You're probably missing that it isn't a penalty X and partner might bid 5H?!
Actually you're probably not because you know partner bidding 5H is unlikely and if he does bid it we will probably make, and if he pulls he will often bid 4N/5C/5D and he will also pass fairly often!
Still there is some concern of partner bidding 5H and us going down but this is not the hand to pass and take your plus. This is a much better problem if the HK becomes the H2 imo (then I pass).

I am not happy about this, if we can trust opps p has a stiff spades and will usually pull.

Agree that partner will bid fairly often, but if he pulls to 5C or 4N then we very likely can make a game anyways. If he bids 5H we may be able to make it on a good day. There are so many positive scenarios for doubling, it's not like partner pulling means Xing was bad.

Giving pard a choice between defending 4 Spades undoubled (we all know he ain't doubling since he rates to be void) or playing 6 Clubs isn't bridge, is it?

If partner pull to 5H we are going to make it.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
